Earlier this month, an app called Freecash climbed to the #2 spot on the US App Store. It had a 4.7-star rating and 6 million downloads. It promised users they could earn money by scrolling TikTok. Sounds like a dream, right? It was a scam. The app, run by a company called Almedia GmbH out of Germany, used deceptive TikTok ads to drive downloads, harvested sensitive personal data including health and biometric information, and evaded a previous App Store ban by rebranding under a different devel
